known around the Toronto dance and theatre scene, former
Wind May Do Damage singer Jane Miller has
tackled jazz with a "nearly naked" vocal style.
In
Trying, Miller shows hints of blues, scat, and jazz
in her songwriting and carries every nuance with a clear
natural voice. In particular she shows impressive technique
in a percussive vocal interplay with Mike Dunn's bass
lines. Stripped down yet strongly energetic, this
performance has an engaging playfulness.
